  1. ServiceCamp

Isn't everything moving from product to service? Will there be any products in the future?
Shouldn't we rename the conference, the positions (service owner?) etc.
Or is a service a type of product?
Is this just a word difference or is there anything else that differentiates a service from a product and a product from a service

      • Machine Learning and Emotions Detection

ML in product development has been exponentially growing in the past few years. ML models are mostly trained on user behaviour, but what about the emotional response to such actions?

        E.g.
        Clothing Website.
A user is clicking on a banner saying "People like you order a bigger size of this item"
        Performs a purchase
but feels frustrated because he/she realized that he/she needs a bigger size to be able to wear it.
The model is trained based on successful purchasing actions, but does not detect the frustration feeling.
Is it good to implement this feature?
        Will this affect future behaviour…

        • Systems thinking in product management

Adding more lanes does not fix traffic jams. Hiring more people and getting more funding is not the way to get stuff done.
We can do more useful work with the same team and resources. It's about how we organize ourselves.
This talk is about ideas and best practices we can borrow from manufacturing, film production, project management and other fields. It's about my experience as an engineer trying to systematize the fuzzy discipline of Product Management.

            • Prototyping with code

Established companies build products according to specs. That’s turning words into mockups and code. It’s easy.

Startups and innovation teams don’t have specs, only vague signals from the market. They zero in on the need, find a product that might satisfy that need and build it. If they get any of the steps wrong, they start over. That’s costly and unrewarding.

Those two modes of operation: research and execution, are different in nature, but we treat them the same way.

I’d like to talk about the research mode. About the mental model and the techniques developers and other members of…

              • Horizontal vs. Vertical Product Management

As a company grows, comes a time when the product responsibilities must be split and separated.
Why are horizontal PMs needed, and how is their role different from a more common vertical (product area, feature...) PM role?

MVP (Minimum Viable Product) was, and still is, the core of any agile project.
But the tradeoff between limited resources, business value and product quality is so fragile that we need to ask the question - is this model really working these day?

How often it was used to justify poor design process?
Is it really worth to ship half-baked products?
Can we experiment on users knowing that we will loose their attention and our creditability?
